Hey guys...my girlfriends and I are coming down to SD at the end of August and I was wondering if you guys can suggest a decent lodging. We don't need anything fancy as we probably wont be in the rooms much except for showering and getting ready, and we don't need something ghetto with bugs in the closets and fucken things crawling out of the bathroom sinks....
So if someone could suggest some places especially around PB or Mission Valley. If not we can do something with a little bit more travel thats fine. We are going to have a car down there.
Thanks...
Joanne

The Surfer Lodge Hotel is the cheapest hotel in Pacific Beach. Otherwise, if you're feelin' adventurous, I'd stay at the Lafayette Hotel on El Cajon. It's this hip little hotel/bar with a great pool and live at least a couple nights out of the week.

thanks so much it seems that most of the places in PB are booked especially along the beach...so we ended up staying in Mission Valley at Doubletree...one of our friends got us a deal for a suite.

If you are just looking for a cheap place to stay in San Diego, you can get amazing deals on priceline ... there are so many convention hotels down there that you can easily get a room in a nice hotel for $40-$50.

Goodnite Inn on Rosecrans
I've stayed there twice and it's extremely cheap and close to everything you need. Right next to a Denny's too and the rooms are clean.
5 mins to the Pacific Ocean, 5 minutes to downtown, and 5 minutes to Mission Valley
What more can you ask for?
They typically have deals on orbitz / travelocity.

For late night dinners, come to Hillcrest (10-15mn drive) and pick your favorite cuisine. Perusing University Avenue will suffice to give you a fair array of choices.
