My girlfriend is going to take me out for V-Day and she is thinking either Gibsons Steak House or Fogo De Chao. I have never been to either, but I am leaning towards Gibsons. They would both end up cost us about the same amount of money. Which would you pick?

If the $$ spent would be almost identical, my vote would be for Fogo, since they will keep bringin' on the meat until you tell them to stop. I've heard that the quality of Gibson's steak is pretty good, however I've avoided them mostly because I can't stand the Rush St. area.

Fogo since it's unlimited meat :-) Or you can try Sal e Carvao - right around the corner - just as good!

I think your girlfriend will make a good decision, she is after all the smartest woman you know. Oh, and the prettiest. I have an idea for what you can get her for vday- a cute, fluffy, orange pomeranian! AND you can get her cute pomeranian some cute fluffy dog accessories! : )

What kind of meat do the pomeranians go for? I feel there will be one at dinner...

Both places are chains (for whatever that is worth. The uniqueness of Fogo De Chao and the never ending service, attitude and food quality would make this my choice. If this is a v-day event and it's atmosphere (cozy?) that is a priority, than Gibsons would be the choice. The steakhouses are just kind of boring these days to me.

I would HAVE to say Gibson's... Gibson's is a Chicago staple, and will certianly cater to V-Day. They will pamper you at Gibson's whereas Fogo will be more like going to Six Flags or something.

Don't want to be difficult but my favorite steak place is Tango Sur on Southport. It is a family run Argentine restaurant. Intimate setting. Great food. + it's BYOB. So you get great steak with a fresh and unique twist, a terrific wait staff (and the wait can be long also) plus you can bring you favorite wine or beer and walk out after a great time without spending 2/3 of the meal on drinks. The ambiance is fantastic.

Tango Sur is good...no doubt. It is intimate and quaint, with very attentive staff. If you can get in, that would certianly be a good option to consider. I used to live less than a mile from there...and it was my go-to when in a pinch. Good call Bob.

Thank you all for all the feedback! It seems as if most everyone recommends Fogo De Chao, so I'm going to go with the popular vote, but I like all the other ideas for restaurants too, I am going to have to check them out! Thanks again!
